Fabric>Load Preset MenuItem Question

It's not clear to me what functionality this menu item provides. I've loaded a few presets to test and I do see that they are being evaluated, but without a connection to a specific scene node the intention is not clear. Questions:

  1. Where does the preset reside?
  2. Is the graph editable/accessible?
  3. Is this intended to allow execution of arbitrary KL, such as in an operator, etc?
  4. Could this be used to initialize a singleton, and if so, what would the lifetime of that singleton be?
  5. Is this saved with the scene in any way? If so, is order important?

    Hi Judah

There is no magic in that menu item. It tries to build a FabricMesh with the canvas preset you choose (see the video attached). But this can fail in many different ways (i.e. your preset might be a Fabric Modifier or controller) that it might be safer for us to remove it (I have created FABMAX-36 for this).

Got it. I think it does make sense to remove it in that case. The contextual "Load/Save" buttons on the actual node UIs do the same thing and are more clear.

    Thank you.
