Maya to Unreal pipeline?

FBX importing from Maya to Unreal is very slow. Is it possible to make Maya to Unreal pipeline with Fabric Engine which could be more efficient than native Unreal FBX importer?

Or is there a way to completely forget FBX and push meshes, textures, materials through Fabric?

    @khpi: Can you elaborate a bit on what is slow?

    FBX Import can be slow mainly to texture + mesh conversion to Unreal. This is independent of FBX however - it is simply the complexity of the textures + meshes to be converted to Unreal's internal representation. So there's nothing to be gained there going through Fabric - Fabric is there for orchestration and flexibility - not for making the import faster really.
